Tabes dorsalis (too known as locomotor ataxia) occurs as late form of syphilis resulting in the degeneration of the dorsal columns of the spinal cord & marked by shooting pains, emaciation, loss of muscular coordination (consequent in the wide-depending unfirm gait characteristic of the disease), & disturbances of sensation and digestion. Tabes dorsalgia occurs as related back hurt.
